SEO Helpful Hints

SEO and its continued term usage.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) will always be an integral component of Interment Marketing and Website Advertising. Many of the Web Development, Web Design, SEO boards, and Blogging pundits tend to think the term SEO is a faux pas or unnecessary term these days. The fact of the matter is that the term will still be a relevant and relative term in the realm of internet marketing, maybe not in the industry vernacular as much, but, likely and rightfully, in the sales terminology for the selling of Web Development, Design, and so forth. Most clients/customers are unaware or not close to knowledgeable as to what the term means and what it means for them and their businesses.

Search Engine Optimization is defined, by Wikipedia at least, as “the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s “natural” or un-paid (“organic”) search results.” Simply put, it’s the non-AdWords or non-PPC means to advertising and marketing ones website/online business. It can be time consuming and detail oriented, but it is worthwhile in regards to promoting and higher ranking of one’s website, and the strengthening of one’s web presence and domain rank.

SEO involves using accurate company information, descriptions, keywords, and other media to properly and succinctly list and pronounce ones company across the spectrum of the internet, whether it be data aggregators (Express update, Axciom, etc.), advertising network sites (YP, Yelp, etc.), or profile and social media sites (Foursquare, Facebook, Google plus and Google maps, etc.). Having correct information and symmetry (Optimization) with all of these types of sites, will increase ones web presence and give ones website and business a higher ranking on a web search.

Search Engine Optimization is only one spoke on the wheel to promoting and advertising ones website and business. For more information, see us at scoutbuffalowebdesign.com.
